On longing for the atmosphere of childhood, respect for hard-working people, and a book written for the grandchildren.
The account presents the history of the Kępiński family across the decades, with particular attention to the story of the village of Huta Głodowska, where a multi-generation family spent its whole life. It was written — as the author puts it — "out of longing for the atmosphere of my childhood and of extraordinary respect for the hard-working people I met on the farm".
Wiesław Kępiński based it on the recollections of his father, mother, aunt Zosia and the oldest villagers, as well as on documents from the State Archive in Włocławek — land registers, notarial deeds and parish records, many of them from 1850–1920 written in Russian. The book is accompanied by detailed photographic documentation. The author writes it above all for his grandchildren: Mateusz, Mikołaj, Olek, Adaś, Jagódka and Marcelinka.
