The journey to America, the purchase of the farm in 1922, and the division of the land among Waleria's children in the first years after liberation.
Franciszek Kępiński, born in 1890 in Mysłakowo, sailed to the United States in 1911, leaving behind his pregnant wife Waleria. Waleria followed him; their stay together lasted ten years, and with the dollars they earned the couple resolved to buy a farm. On the way home in 1921 their youngest son, Henio, died.
On 16 January 1922, by notarial deed no. 277 at the office of Józef Mańkowski in Lipno, Franciszek and Waleria bought from Emil and Róża Barc a farm of 15 ha 87 a 96 m² for 3,150,000 marks. The chapter describes the family's first years, and then — after Franciszek's death and the war — Waleria's division of the farm among her children and the work on it in the first years after liberation.
